Good Afternoon,

**Reminder Parent/Teacher Conferences are this week!!

This morning we talked about the different types of sentences: Command, Statement, Question, and Exclamation. A command tells someone what to do. A statement states a fact. A question is asking someone something and an exclamation is expressing an opinion with emotion. We practiced writing a few of our own.

We had a practice for the assembly this morning and did a fantastic job for the actual assembly! Ms. Russell was very proud!

In math we had another number talk. Ms. Russell read us the book, "A Hundred Billion Trillion Stars" by Seth Fishman. We learned about approximately how many trees cover our Earth (three trillion), how much water too (three hundred seventy billion gallons). We learned that seven billion five hundred million humans weigh about the same as ten quadrillion ants. We also learned that there are about 1,620 trillion raindrops in an average thunderstorm and the average person walks something like 100,000 miles in their lifetime, or five times around the world! Wow!

Ms. Russell read more of "The Hobbit" after lunch.

In gym we played "running chaser" and "floor-hockey."

For science today we looked at a cross section model of the Human ear. Then Ms. Russell taught us some fun facts. Did you know that ears help keep you balanced?

We finished our day with another chapter from "A Long Walk to Water." Please ask me what happened to Nya and Salva.

Have a great afternoon!

Ms. Russell
